Abstract
The objective of his article has been dictated by the interests of the agricultural economics profession in Poland as it adjusts to the ever changing system of public support of its research and teaching programs. Learning how similar issues have been approached by their colleagues in other countries offers insights into the applied solution and the adjustments required to effectively perform the two functions and continue to serve public at large, the food and fiber sector and policy makers.
