Sytuacja ekonomiczna banków spółdzielczych w Polsce w latach 2005-2010

The article presents the changes in the financial situation of cooperative banks in the period 2005 - 2010. To carry out the study, data was used which contained the financial statements of five hundred and seventy-six cooperative banks published in the Monitor Cooperative B. Results of research are presented in tables showing the assets of the average cooperative bank, , liabilities of the average bank, chosen indicators of the evaluation of a financial situation of the bank and selected items of the profit and loss account of the average bank. Throughout the study period the functioning of cooperative banks was safe, stable and profitable. It was found that the co-operative banking sector survived and remained in a relatively good condition during a period of economic downturn and financial turmoil in 2009 and 2010. Large excess funds invested in interbank transactions indicate the necessity to take more vigorous activities aimed at acquiring new customer groups and to become more active in the development of lending.
