Abstract
The aim of this paper was to identify the greatest difficulties connected with implementation of GLOBAL G.A.P. in selected vegetable farms in Poland. The detailed aim was to evaluate the effectiveness of implementation of the system. Difficulties with implementation of the system were identified by interviewing the producers, whereas the effectiveness was evaluated on the basis of results of internal audits (which are mandatorily conducted by certified entities). The study covered 96 farms associated in producer groups from the following provinces: Małopolskie, Łódzkie and Świętokrzyskie. The results of the study indicate that the biggest problems with implementation of GLOBAL G.A.P. concern infrastructural changes associated with storing pesticides and fertilizers as well as with maintaining proper standard of rooms for postharvest processing and storage of products. Costs related to testing water, soil as well as testing products for pesticide residues are an important factor influencing the popularity of GLOBAL G.A.P. The results of the study indicate that ineffective organization of maintaining hygiene and order on a farm is a serious problem as in many cases it may have a negative effect on the quality of products.
