Abstract
The study presents the results of the evaluation of the development level of mazowieckie province communes with the use of the method put forward by H. Giersch. The results presented in the study indicate the usefulness of the suggested method, however only after necessary modifications (simplifications) aiming at adjustment of the lower than the region level of the organisation of society to the research. The results also provide information useful for shaping the local development policies.
