Abstract
This paper presents the results of the analysis of the financial condition of farms specializing in breeding sheep and goats. The analysis is based on the European System of Farm Accountancy Data Network (FADN). The financial condition of farms was analyzed in the perspective of liquidity, debt, profitability, productivity and synthetic measure estimated with use of TOPSIS method. The results indicate that the weakest financial condition was characteristic for farms in Lithuania, Netherlands, Finland, France and Hungary. Generally low evaluation of farms’ financial condition in these countries is due to greater liquidity risk, the lower degree of solvency and low profitability. The high efficiency of the farm stand out in Austria, Great Britain, Greece, Italy and Spain. High overall assessment of the financial situation of farms in these countries is mainly due to a safe level of debt, high productivity and high profitability.
