Abstract
The paper analyses the manufacturing resource base and the economic results of agricultural farms taking part in the agri-environmental programme in the south-eastern region of Poland. The results show that farms which have taken part in the agri-environmental programme have much larger resources of agricultural land at their disposal than typical farms in the region, not to mention their relatively higher economic power, assessed on the basis of ESU index. Furthermore, the farms are highly diversified depending on the agri-environmental scheme they have entered. The farms following the land and water conservation scheme evidence the highest dependence on market, contrary to the those taking part in the extensive cultivation of grazing lands.
